Server log files

The server (operating system and web application service) collect and store automatically information in log files wich are automatically send by your browser to the server. This are:

·          - Type and version of the browser

·          - Operating system

·          - Referred URL

·          - HTTP success code

·          - Date and time of request

·          - IP address

We may use this information only for internal analysis about usage frequency and error detections of the provided service. We do not share this information to 3rd parties.

Cookies

A cookie is a small piece of data sent from our website and stored on your computer by your web browser while you are browsing. We use cookies to store stateful information needed to use BEXIS2: login information (new and logged in user), photo gallery selections, dataset search filter. Our cookies are session cookies. They are automatically removed after your visit of BEXIS2, latest if you close the browser.

Information collected during registration in BExIS

When you register in BExIS for the first time, BExIS collects personel information to recognize you later as a valid user. This information is also used to link you with datasets (see below “Information used by creating a dataset”). The personal information may be used by the BExIS administrators to contact you for project related issues. We may contact you via email or via phone for data curation questions or to clarify other data related issues. BExIS sends automatically informative mails regarding your datasets (data creation, data download) to your provided email address. For datasets in BExIS usually a contact person needs to be set by the data creators. Access requests from other users to datasets are made via BExIS to this contact person. The contact person receives the request on the provided email address. The decision to the request is made in BExIS and the requesting person gets an information email to the provided email address.

Information used by creating a dataset

During dataset creation personal information, regarding data ownership is entered in the metadata section of a dataset. Mostly the name of a person is used. For the contact person also the institute address and the email is used. Once such a dataset is made publicly available, also this personal information is public. The telephone numbers will be removed from the public version of a dataset.
